Does a Seiko Kinetic watch have a battery in it?

My husband's watch stopped working a while back, but i wonder if its because he hardly wore it. If it does have a battery, should i replace it anyway.

If it has a battery and you replace it and he doesn't wear it often, pull the stem to stop the watch while he's not wearing it.

Around 2000 (I believe) Seiko stopped fitting capacitors to their Kinetic watches and started using li-ion rechargable batteries instead.

I bought some small screwdrivers, a case opening tool, and a battery, and upgraded my Seiko Kinetic diving watch myself.

Very pleased I did.

I used this guide btw: http://www.pmwf.com/Watches/WatchSchool/WS%2026%20Seiko%205M42-OL68%20R2%20Capacitor%20Change/WS%2026%20How%20to%20change%20the%20capacitor%20of%20a%20SEIKO%205M42%20Kinetic.htm

The battery cost me about 12 pounds from a shop on ebay. :)
